Defined and built a wealth equity data and insights platform
Launched a pioneering platform for racial wealth equity — offering not just access to wealth data, but insight, guidance, and tools for action.

The Challenge
Despite billions pledged toward racial equity post-2020, governments and nonprofits lacked access to centralized, actionable data about Black wealth. Data was fragmented, outdated, and often not disaggregated by race or geography — making evidence-based policy and investment nearly impossible.
The BWDC was envisioned to change this. But building trust in data — and designing an interface that could meet the divergent needs of “sensemakers” (policy analysts, researchers, funders, journalists) — required more than data aggregation. It needed clarity, credibility, and a human-centered design approach.
The Approach
As Product and Design Pod Lead, I helped lead a multi-partner team across BCG, BCG X, Bloomberg Philanthropies, EX3 Labs, Urban Institute, and brand agency Consciously. I led the user experience vision, product strategy, and cross-functional execution across sprints.
Discovery & Strategy
User Archetypes & JTBD: Defined five core ecosystem personas and prioritized sensemakers as the primary user (e.g., L4s needing quick insights, L8s seeking raw data for analysis).
Design Research & Sprint Testing: Conducted 3 design sprints and over 25 user interviews; tested over 20 feature concepts (e.g., curated insights, download tools, comparison dashboards).
Feature Prioritization: Mapped features across desirability, feasibility, and viability lenses to define MVP and V1.5/V2 feature roadmap.
Product & Experience Design
Experience Flow Definition: Designed an insights-first user journey to surface key trends before deep data dives; included save/share tools, geospatial views, curated narratives, and forecaster tools.
Content & IA Leadership: Authored IA, site maps, storytelling architecture, and data-tool design system. Integrated content modules like the resource library and case studies to humanize data.
Design System & Prototypes: Delivered clickable prototypes and design specs for EX3. Focused on clarity, hierarchy, and trust-building mechanisms for both expert and non-expert users.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
Cross-Org Coaching: Mentored designers, researchers, product managers, and guided 3rd-party product teams through design transition and implementation.
PMO & Communication: Managed multi-agency pods and liaised across legal, vendor, and content workstreams. Co-developed roadmap, risk plans, and sprint ops infrastructure
The Outcome
